Nuorten tutkijoiden verkosto / Early career network – Apply now to become a board member!

Hei nuoret tutkijat! Hi early career researchers!

Haemme jäseniä nuorten tutkijoiden verkoston hallitukseen! Lue puheenjohtajamme Helin viesti alta.

We are looking for board members for an early career network (ECN)! Read our chair Heli’s message below.

Dear FASO members,

We have an exciting opportunity for those of you in an early career stage (e.g. PhD student, <5 y postdoc, <8 y MD, or hold an entry-level position); we will develop an early career network (ECN) for the Finnish Association for the Study of Obesity (FASO). The purpose of the FASO ECN is to engage you in obesity-related activities to facilitate sharing of knowledge and skills that will benefit your research, career, clinical practice, and day-to-day interactions related to obesity. At the same time, you will get to know your peers a little better.

To make this happen, we are looking to appoint early career researchers and/or MDs as FASO ECN board members who are eager to lead the planning and organization of these activities. We have some ideas already, but there’s lots of room for your own input. This is a unique opportunity to acquire visibility, build your network, and organize activities to benefit a larger community of your peers in Finland. Please consider this a low-threshold position to share your ideas, brainstorm with us, and put these ideas into practice. No prior experience is required, just enthusiasm, an open mind, and a hands-on mentality. The language of the board will be English or Finnish, as necessary.

If you’re interested in becoming a FASO ECN board member, please fill in this form by Tuesday 31 March. If you have any questions, please contact Sohvi Lommi (sohvi.lommi@helsinki.fi). Sohvi is a postdoctoral researcher at the Folkhälsan Research Center, a FASO board member, and an EASO ECN board member who will coordinate and supervise this initiative. FASO board members Johanna Matilainen and Suvi Järvinen will also join the ECN board. We intend to select the board members in April and then start activity planning for 2026/2027.

Best wishes,

Heli Viljakainen

Chair of FASO
