Dr. Sohvi Lommi works as a postdoctoral researcher in the Fin-HIT research group at the Folkhälsan Research Center in Helsinki. Her research focuses on conventional and non-conventional determinants of excess weight and weight gain from early adolescence into emerging adulthood, with a specific interest in circadian rhythms and their associated health outcomes, as well as in diet and oral microbiome.
She earned her PhD from the University of Helsinki in 2023. In her doctoral research, she explored the associations of food consumption, oral health, oral microbiome and excess weight in early adolescence. She holds a MSc in nutrition science from the University of Helsinki.
In addition to her research, Sohvi is active in obesity research societies: she is a member in the ECN board of the European Association for the Study of Obesity as well as a board member in the Finnish Association for the Study of Obesity. She is excited to lead the first steps of the Finnish ECN, visioning it to grow into a supportive community and platform for early career professionals in obesity science.
